Mission of the DA Foundation

The Developing Artists Foundation (DA Foundation) is committed to supporting local programs that provide quality arts education and opportunities for the youth of Duval County, Florida and Northeast Florida.

Among Duval County arts programs, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, is nationally recognized as a leading arts school. It plays an important role in elevating the arts in Duval County, Florida as well as the prestige of Jacksonville and Duval County Public Schools. The primary function of the DA Foundation is to provide support and ensure that critical arts funding is provided for Douglas Anderson School of the Arts for it to maintain its national status.

The DA Foundation is committed to providing funding necessary for the school to meet its mission of providing students world class training, experiences and intensive arts study in one of several arts areas offered; as well as support the school in ensuring that its arts programs meet the standards set by this nation’s top arts conservatories, art institutes and universities. Funding will not be provided for capital or operating needs which are the responsibility of the Duval County School System or for anything which is provided traditionally to schools by public funding authorities.

About The Developing Artists Foundation

The DA Foundation, a non-profit corporation was created in 1987. Annually, the major source of arts funding is generated through the DA Endowed Funds managed by the Community Foundation of Northeast Florida.  DA Foundation funds may be used to underwrite crucial guest arts programs, arts partnerships that benefit arts students, visiting professional artists, artist-in-residence program, student summer arts scholarships, arts teacher fellowships, independent and programmed arts study designed to supplement curricular opportunities and such other objectives that enhance the quality of arts education.

Funding may also be used to underwrite the purchase of specialized arts equipment and music instruments that are not provided by the district to its schools as well as specialized marketing and visibility of the purpose and mission of the arts programs. 

About The Douglas Anderson School of the Arts

Douglas Anderson School of the Arts is a Duval County Public School for students grades 9 through 12 with a desire for intensive study in the arts.

Established as an arts school in 1985, the school attracts students from all parts of North Florida and South Georgia who have talent in dance, instrumental or vocal music, performance or technical theatre, film, creative writing, and visual arts.

A high academic standard, coupled with a broad arts curriculum, offers students an opportunity to excel in a chosen discipline while preparing them for post-secondary education.
